Full Itinerary

As you walk out of Kilimanjaro International Airport, your personal Tanzania Specialist guide greets you with a big smile: 'Karibu Tanzania - welcome to Tanzania!' The guide takes you straight to your hotel in Moshi, where you can relax and take in the African atmosphere.

At the hotel, your guide will meet you for a pre-trek briefing, gear check, and final preparations.

Overnight stay in Moshi.

Drive to Londorossi Gate (2,250m/7,380ft) for registration and permits.

Continue by vehicle to Lemosho Glades (2,350m/7,710ft) for the start of the trek.

Trek through lush rainforest to Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,820m/9,250ft).

Dinner and overnight stay at Mti Mkubwa Camp.

Day 1: Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport

Trek through the rainforest, gradually ascending to the heath zone.

Enjoy views of the Shira Plateau and surrounding landscapes.

Arrive at Shira 1 Camp (3,505m/11,500ft) for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Londorossi Gate to Mti Mkubwa Camp

Continue trekking through moorland and alpine desert terrain.

Ascend to Shira 2 Camp (3,840m/12,600ft), passing through the Shira Cathedral.

Enjoy panoramic views of the Great Barranco Wall and Mount Meru in the distance.

Dinner and overnight stay at Shira 2 Camp.

Day 3: Mti Mkubwa Camp to Shira 1 Camp

Begin the day with a gradual ascent towards Lava Tower (4,630m/15,190ft).

Descend to Barranco Camp (3,950m/12,960ft), passing through the scenic Barranco Wall.

Dinner and overnight stay at Barranco Camp.

Day 4: Shira 1 Camp to Shira 2 Camp

Traverse the famous Barranco Wall, a challenging but exhilarating section of the route.

Continue trekking through alpine desert terrain to Karanga Camp (3,995m/13,106ft).

Enjoy panoramic views of the Southern Icefield and surrounding peaks.

Dinner and overnight stay at Karanga Camp.

Day 5: Shira 2 Camp to Barranco Camp

Ascend to Barafu Camp (4,600m/15,100ft), the final base camp before the summit.

Rest and prepare for the summit push.

Have an early dinner and try to rest before the summit attempt.

Overnight stay at Barafu Camp.

Day 6: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp

Begin the summit attempt in the early hours of the morning, aiming to reach Uhuru Peak (5,895m/19,341ft) at sunrise.

Trek through steep and rocky terrain, passing Stella Point on the crater rim.

Arrive at Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa! Celebrate and take photos.

Descend back to Barafu Camp for a short rest and brunch.

Continue descending to Mweka Camp (3,100m/10,170ft) for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

Descend through the lush rainforest to Mweka Gate (1,650m/5,413ft).

Receive your summit certificates and bid farewell to your guide and porters.

Transfer back to your hotel in Moshi for a well-deserved rest and celebration
